Bathing wear

Togs, bikinis, or trunks.

Towel & robe

Bring your own or hire a plush set for $10 per person. Trust us, you’ll appreciate a thick robe for the short walk to and from the baths.

Footwear

Bring jandals (or use ours for free) to keep your feet clean and comfy as you stroll between the changing room and bath.

Drinks & nibbles

Feel free to bring your own beverages and snacks, we provide bamboo trays, bowls, and top-quality plastic glassware. Drinking water and herbal teas are available on the house.

Where are the outdoor baths located?

Fern & Feather Retreat is at 106 Ariki Ave, Otatara, just minutes from central Invercargill in Southland. Visits are by appointment only, so the setting stays peaceful and private.

How long is a bath session?

Each booking is a private one-hour soak. The bath is yours for the full hour, with no timesharing and no other guests around.

Is the bath completely private?

Yes. Every booking is exclusive, the bath, the deck and the bush setting are yours alone, whether you come solo or as a pair.

Can I bathe in winter or in the rain?

Absolutely. The water stays warm and cosy year-round and the native bush offers natural shelter.

There is a large umbrella that can be raised over the tubs to deflect rain from falling directly on you, and many guests say the rain only adds to it.

What's included in the price?

All sessions include a private hour in the bath, complimentary magnesium salts, drinking water and herbal teas, plus the use of bamboo trays, bowls, glassware and jandals if needed.

Standard Solo is $65, duo is $110, Botanica (includes bath bombs) Solo is $75, duo is $130. Robe and Towel hire and 30min extension are optional extras.

Can I add a massage to my bath?
